Taunton Netball Club was originally formed by netball enthusiasts Charles & Liz Probets in 1960, who for many years dedicated themselves to the promotion of netball in Taunton, Somerset and at national levels.
Taunton Netball Club has been one of the most successful clubs in the South West, with players representing the club at county and regional levels. We have also had England and regional league players. The club has a number of qualified coaches and umpires.
Training takes place on Wednesday evenings at Taunton Vale Sports Club between 7.30pm – 9.00pm. Training consists of fitness, skills/drills and match play. On three out of four Wednesdays, Vivary, Tone & Monmouth train indoors. On one out of four Wednesdays, Quantock, Priory, Blackdown & Tudor train indoors.
We currently have seven senior squads. Vivary and Tone play in Regional League 3, Monmouth in the Premier division of the Somerset County League, Quantock in the first division, Priory in the second, Blackdown in the third and Tudor in the fourth.
Taunton Netball Club was one of the first clubs in Somerset to achieve a CAPS Award. We gained a Silver award in 2012 for the England Netball CAPS and Sport England Club mark Accreditation.
CAPS is England Netball’s accreditation scheme & Sport England’s Club Mark to show a club is an effective, quality & child friendly netball environment.
We have therefore met high standards in the playing programme, child protection, sports equity & ethics and club management.
